Three people suffered serious injuries and a fourth also was hurt tonight in a car crash near the west Vancouver waterfront.

A police officer witnessed a gray car speeding on Southeast Columbia Way just before it crashed in front of Joe’s Crab Shack, 101 S.E. Columbia Way, at about 9:05 p.m., said Officer Eric McCaleb of the Vancouver Police Department.

The four people inside the car were taken to the hospital. Three of them suffered serious injuries in the crash but were expected to survive, McCaleb said. The fourth person’s injuries were less serious, he said.

The Vancouver Police Department’s traffic unit is investigating the crash, McCaleb said. Columbia Way was closed as crews responded to the scene.
