Firefighters were called to a single-story home in the Five Corners area Thursday night after someone reportedly spotted smoke rising from the house, and to a second home, in east Vancouver near 162nd Avenue, minutes later.

Vancouver firefighters first responded to a house fire in the 9800 block of Northeast 60th Street around 7:50 p.m. Someone nearby reportedly spotted smoke coming from the window of a small single-story home there, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Radio traffic also indicated the home may have been unoccupied at the time.

A second fire was reported, near Northeast 155th Avenue and Northeast 12th Way at 8:10 p.m. Radio traffic indicated smoke was seen coming from the roof of a home there, and a caller reported that all the occupants were able to get out.

More information on either fire was not immediately available.
