One person was injured after a vehicle maintenance problem led to a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on state Highway 500.

The Washington State Patrol said Vancouver drivers Melody T. Porteous, 45, and Tatyana Yakimchuk, 23, had stopped for traffic on the highway shortly after 3:30 p.m., near Northeast 182nd Avenue.

Camas’ Kendra K. Fleck, 18, rounded a corner and was unable to stop in time before striking Yakimchuk’s sedan, forcing it into Porteous’ station wagon, according to the state patrol.

Fleck, Porteous and a 10-year-old girl riding with Yakimchuk were unhurt, but Yakimchuk was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for injuries.

Her condition was not available Thursday night.

Driving with defective equipment caused the crash, and Fleck was cited for second-degree negligent driving, according to the state patrol.
