Letter: Common sense, common decency

By Annette Cartwright, Vancouver

No, you don’t have to be a white, college-educated male, all you need is common sense and common decency.

Hate has no place is our society. I’m not thrilled (to say the least) with the outcome of the recent presidential election but I’m not about to burn down my own house. I do intend to join the ranks of Bernie Sanders followers. I will write to my representatives in Congress and hold their feet to the fire regarding global warming, health care and our infrastructure.

Think of all the people of all colors, religions and sexual orientations we could put to work rebuilding our bridges, roads and water treatment.

Hopefully, if we create more living-wage jobs, those people who have nothing better to do than riot would be too busy to hate.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
