Letter: Vote third party

By Jackson Colby, Vancouver

Recently there has been some finger pointing at Bernie Sanders supporters. It is said that if they choose not to vote or vote for a third-party candidate they will be, in effect, voting for Trump.

This is not at all true. Only a vote for Trump is a vote for Trump. Why should we have to choose between two undesirables when there are two perfectly good third-party candidates to vote for? Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are both more desirable than Hillary.

Some say “they won’t win, so there’s no point in voting for them.” That is the type of thinking that prevents third-party candidates from ever winning. If you live anywhere in the Northwest it makes more sense to vote third party than to vote for Hillary or Trump, since we already know Hillary will win Washington and Oregon while Trump will win Idaho and Montana. Vote third party. Throw a wrench in the works.
