The Portland Winterhawks continued their swing through the Western Hockey League East Division with a 5-2 win Friday in Moose Jaw over the Warriors.

Portland (5-2-0-0) handed the Warriors (3-1-2-0) their first regulation loss of the season while improving to 3-1 on their eight-game road trip.

Moose Jaw scored the first two goals of the game and Portland answered with the next five.

Cody Glass and Skyler McKenzie each had two goals, and Ryan Hughes had two assists.

Cole Kehler picked up the win in net for Portland, stopping 20 of the 22 shots he faced from Moose Jaw. The Hawks nearly doubled Moose Jaw’s shot total with 42.

The Hawks’ eight-game road trip continues tomorrow when the team is in Saskatoon to take on the Blades.
