Letter: ‘Idiocracy’ on display

Vancouver’s own version of “Idiocracy” was played out recently at Esther Short Park at the Trump rally. These are the people who, when the used car salesman says “trust me,” they do. They must think government runs on “electrolytes,” not taxes. They’re the “Bundys” of the world who scream patriotism, wave Revolutionary War flags, attack government workers in nowheresville, and promptly give up when real authority shows up — the supporters of racism, homophobia, sexism, bigotry, and every other “tree of liberty” and call it “freedom.” The GOP fearmongers don’t do their job in Congress, and then pronounce America a failure. “Deplorables” — no, it’s worse than that, it’s idiocracy.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
