Investigators were unable to determine definitively what sparked a fire that damaged a home the evening of Sept. 30 in the greater Brush Prairie area.

Firefighters were called to the home at 9905 N.E. 117th Ave. shortly before 8:30 p.m. after callers reported hearing explosions and flames coming from the home’s windows and eaves.

Deputy Clark County Fire Marshal Susan Anderson said the fire appeared to have started in a bedroom, but she couldn’t for sure say what caused it.

No one was hurt in the fire, but the Red Cross assisted three adults and a pet who were displaced. The fire did an estimated $132,000 in damage between the home and its contents, Anderson said.
