Mountain View High School students honored by national competition

Mountain View — Twelve Mountain View High School seniors were honored as commended students by the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. The group was among the top 5 percent of participating students demonstrating outstanding potential for academic success after graduation. While the commended students don’t advance in the competition to the semifinals, they are still eligible for special scholarships, according to the program’s website. The students from Mountain View who were honored are: Javier Anton, Suyash Gupta, Daniel Grimshaw, Tenzin Moenbrook, Miranda Sheriden, Emmie Dong, Calvin Ecaruan, Caledonia Gilchrist, Pranav Mathur, Tiffany Nguyen, Katherine Xu and Ivy Ye.
