Vancouver police officers arrested a man on suspicion of multiple assault charges Friday after law enforcement chased him down  following a report of a fight in the Rose Village neighborhood.

Someone called 911 around 3:10 p.m. about a fight going on outside a house on the 1700 block of East 35th Street.

Vancouver police Sgt. Deb Libby said the assailant in the row ran off as officers responded to the call. Additional officers arrived and tried surrounding the man, and police apprehended him about a block away, she said.

Officers arrested David E. Hill, 37, on suspicion of third-degree assault of a child, second-degree domestic violence assault (for attempting to strangle or otherwise cut off someone’s airflow) and fourth-degree assault.

Libby said there were three victims in the incident. Officers were on scene for a bit over an hour as they interviewed witnesses, she said.
