A panel of judges from the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division II, will visit Vancouver on Monday to hear oral arguments in three cases on appeal from Clark County Superior Court.

Oral arguments will begin at 9 a.m. at the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., on the sixth floor in the hearing room. They are expected to last about 30 minutes.

The public is welcome to attend and ask questions — not related to active cases — at the end of the arguments.

The three cases to be heard involve a boundary dispute between two property owners and removal of fencing and trees, a business lawsuit, and a medical malpractice lawsuit.

The Court of Appeals, Division II, usually hears arguments at its courthouse in Tacoma. It hears cases from Superior Courts in Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Pacific, Skamania, Wahkiakum, Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, Thurston and Pierce counties. The court can overrule, remand, modify or affirm decision made by the Superior Court and administrative agencies.

“We continue to have oral arguments outside of Tacoma so more people can observe the court in operation,” Court of Appeals Division II Judge Rich Melnick said in a press release. “It helps Washington communities understand how the judicial branch functions and provides more transparency.”
