Non-league football: Ridgefield 7, Castle Rock 2

While Castle Rock’s two-headed quarterbacking offense threw the ball often and aggressively downfield throughout much of the first half, Ridgefield’s defense answered with strong play at all three levels of their respective side.

On Castle Rock’s only series in which the offense took the ball deep into opponent territory, Spudder sophomore linebacker Brock Harrison blocked a pass at the line of scrimmage that eventually fell into the hands of teammate Cameron Salewski for the team’s third forced turnover before halftime.

“I had to hit it hard,” Harrison said about his job to blitz on the play. “But when I knew I wouldn’t make it, I just put my hands up and we made a great play on it.”

Late in the fourth quarter, running backs Jeremy Martin and Jalen Williams combined for key first down runs to help secure the first ever head coaching win for Kim Ulman.
