Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

• Clark College Transitional Studies Tutoring Center seeks tutors to work with students to improve basic reading, writing and math and English speaking skills. Tutors work in classrooms, one-on-one and in small group settings, 2 to 3 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks. There will be training, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22.

• Furry Friends is looking for help with fostering, phones, pet showings, bookkeeping, fundraising, and in the adoption center.

• Get Bold Events is looking for volunteers to help distribute water and cheer on runners during the North County Wine Run on Sept. 24.

• Meals on Wheels People seeks drivers and substitute drivers to deliver meals to homebound Meals on Wheels participants.

• Mount St. Helens Institute is looking for volunteers to enter data on the computer and help with various office tasks. Computer experience is required.

• National Alliance on Mental Illness is in need of volunteers to represent NAMI at events around the community. Office assistants are needed to answer phones, greet clients, and help with a monthly newsletter.
