Sometimes there are too many good golfers to mention in Clark County (video)

We like to use as many tools available to cover high school sports.

One of those tools is Twitter.

As results are reported to us, we try to share those scores on Twitter, along with an individual highlight.

So last week, I tweeted out a result of the Union boys golf team’s match with Kelso and Mark Morris at Mint Valley Golf Club.

Normally for a golf event, you would tweet out the medalist — i.e. golfer with the lowest score. In that match, that was Union’s Hayden Meeker, who shot a 1-under-par 34.

But teammate Keith Lobis shot an even-par 35, so I thought that was worth mentioning as well.

Then another Union golfer, Dylan Henry, tweeted: “I knew that three-putt on No. 8 would get me.”

Henry shot a 1-over 36.

Normally, a 1-over 36 is worth a mention, but that’s what happens when you play on a really good team.

Actually, this fall, Clark County is filled with really good golfers and really good golf teams.

Here’s a look at other golfers who shot sub-par or even-par rounds last week in addition to the aforementioned Misters Meeker and Lobis: Sean Murray of Camas, Kyle Gomez and Joe Beuselinck of Columbia River, Mason White of Mountain View, Zach Peros and Justin Zilles of Skyview, Spencer Tibbits of Fort Vancouver, and Gage Hannon and Jacob Abrahamson of Prairie.

There’s an opportunity to see all of those golfers, and several others, at the annual Jeff Hudson Invitational on Tuesday at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

The event serves as an early-season showcase for boys golf in the area, as players compete over 18 holes.

Not only will the race for the individual title be a good one, but so will the team title with the likes of Union, Skyview, Columbia River and Camas posting some impressive team marks so far this season.

The first golfers tee off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and the weather should be perfect.
