EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has received a $250,000 campaign contribution from New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg.

The Register-Guard reports that Bloomberg’s donation marks the largest single contribution she has received in recent years.

The donation comes after Brown, a Democrat, publicly announced support for three pieces of gun control legislation, including a ban of high-capacity ammunition magazines, that the Legislature will consider in 2017. Bloomberg has a history of donating to pro-gun control candidates.

Bloomberg’s contribution brings Brown’s total fundraising for the election cycle to $3.7 million.

Brown’s Republican opponent has raised $2.6 million this election cycle.
