Letter: Herrera Beutler should face voters

By Sandra Edmonson, VANCOUVER

I have been carefully watching The Columbian for the notice of when and where the debates between Jaime Herrera Beutler and Jim Moeller will be held since I wish to attend.

After much internet searching, I discovered that one is scheduled for Oct. 25, a mere two weeks before the election. It is at noon at the Oak Tree Restaurant in Woodland. Hmmm. Why do you suppose this was set for the middle of a workday in Woodland rather than an evening or weekend in Vancouver? Was this time/date/place chosen by Herrera Beutler so that she may, once again, avoid facing her constituents as she is so fond of doing with her privately scheduled coffee klatches? It certainly wasn’t set up for the convenience of the voters.

As for the second debate, I have yet to locate any information except that it is to be in Camas. With only two weeks between the Woodland debate and Election Day, will there even be another debate or will that go by the wayside?
