Animal blessings at Vancouver churches

Vancouver – The Church of the Good Shepherd is honoring St. Francis of Assisi this Sunday. The patron saint of animals died Oct. 3, 1226.

People can bring their pets, so long as they’re properly restrained, to the 11:15 a.m. service at the Episcopal church, located at 805 S.E. Ellsworth Road. Afterwards, around 12:30 p.m., the Blessing of the Animals starts in the front parking lot.

Not available Sunday? Family of Christ Lutheran Church is hosting its animal blessing at 10 a.m. Saturday. The church is located at 3500 N.W. 129th St. Animals must be on leashes or in carriers.
