Investigators won’t know for some time whether charges will be recommended in a fatal four-vehicle crash on state Highway 500 on Tuesday.

Trooper Will Finn said detectives took a blood sample from Pamela S. Alexander, 53, of Camas and sent it to the state crime lab for analysis. That process could take more than a month.

Investigators are trying to determine whether driver impairment was a factor when Alexander drifted over the centerline while driving west Tuesday morning, triggering a four-car crash that killed Jonna D. Porteous, 68, of Vancouver.

Alexander and two others received minor injuries in the crash.
