One person was taken to the hospital for burns after a fire in a kitchen at an Orchards home Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 9907 N.E. 104th Court around 1:45 p.m.

Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Raymond Egan said there was a fire in the home’s kitchen, and it took Vancouver and Fire District 3 firefighters about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The fire remained confined to the kitchen, he said, and did not extend into the home’s attic.

The burned patient was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the fire, Egan said.
