Girls basketball: Hockinson 62, Battle Ground 52

Seniors Grace Russell and Payton Wangler led the way with 20 and 18 points for the Hawks.

Russell had a double-double with 10 rebounds, also adding five assists and five blocks. Wangler had eight assists and five steals.

Freshman Meggie Kistler provided a spark off the bench in the third quarter as Hockinson (1-1) opened a 20-point edge.

Battle Ground’s Morgan Stradley led all scorers with 21 points, and Emeline Akengue added 17 for the Tigers (1-3).
