Letter: The future appears to be bleak

Dec. 1 was another black day for the U.S. when the “Republican robbing hoods” stole a trillion-and-a-half dollars from our veterans, elderly, poor, sick, and children to give to their super-rich donors.

This octogenarian remembers when this beloved country of ours was probably the most admired country in the world and it has now sunk to one distrusted by our allies and hated by so many others.

We now have no money to rebuild our infrastructure, thanks to the Republicans, their Supreme Court lackeys, gerrymandered Congress, governors and state legislatures. They, along with too many Democrats, are bankrupting this country with their endless, needless expensive wars.

One would hope that this increasing succession of black days will end, but I see little to encourage that hope.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
