Lewis River senior team wins regional opener

Two big innings propelled the Lewis River Little League senior baseball team to a 10-4 win Friday over the Montana state champs in first-round action at the Little League Senior Baseball Western Regional Tournament at American River College in Sacramento.

Lewis River broke open a close game with five runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning. Brenden Williams was 3 for 4 with four RBI. Wyatt Autrey added two hits for Lewis River, who next faces the Northern California champions at 8 p.m. tonight.

Bryce Graham was the winning pitcher for Lewis River, throwing three innings of no-hit ball striking out six.

The tournament continues through Wednesday with the winner advancing to the Senior Little League World Series at Easley, S.C., beginning July 30.
