Detectives arrested a Clark County Jail corrections deputy Wednesday, pending charges related to on-duty sexual misconduct, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Christopher A. North, 29, was arrested on suspicion of indecent liberties and second-degree custodial sexual misconduct. The sheriff’s office said North victimized a woman inmate at the jail.

North has been employed with the county as a corrections deputy since January 2015, according to the sheriff’s office.
North is scheduled to appear in Clark County Superior Court Thursday morning.

“I take this extremely seriously,” Sheriff Chuck Atkins said in a news release. “I will not allow this type of misconduct to take place in my jail.”

The sheriff’s office said Wednesday night it was not releasing additional information that day for fear of hindering the investigation, which was ongoing.
