Even though the sun’s playing hokey-pokey in our corner of the country lately, a private park in eastern Clark County is trying to position itself as a summer retreat.
Alderbrook Park, the 63-acre private park at the eastern edge of Clark County, offers miles of trails, a lake and a swimming pool. Its website lists activities from pedal boats to kickball to a disc golf course. But the decades-old business is still a surprise to many.

A Vancouver woman severely injured in a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver is suing a Portland strip club for nearly $15 million.

A Vancouver father appeared in court Tuesday for allegedly shooting his adult son after an argument because “he was just tired of his behavior,” prosecutors said.
William Wayne Terry, 70, faces an allegation of first-degree domestic violence assault for the Memorial Day altercation. Two teens face murder allegations after an intended robbery turned deadly when a 16-year-old boy was dragged by a vehicle at a Vancouver parking lot, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
Jaycob Trotter, 16, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Tuesday on allegations of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery. Christopher Pierce, 15, faces the same allegations in Clark County Juvenile Court, though he’s additionally facing an allegation of leaving the scene of a crash. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 1.
