SALMON CREEK — Salmon Creek-area residents should not be alarmed if they see smoke or flames Thursday as firefighters are planning a training burn.

Crews with Clark County Fire District 6 will be training at the practice burn at 1119 N.E. 136th St. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday.

Training fires provide valuable experience for firefighters while also removing outdated or unwanted structures.

The house being destroyed on Thursday is on the property that will soon be home to the agency’s Fire Station 63.

The new facility, a $9 million building project, replaces an overcrowded and outdated fire station and will also include a training center.
