Lucas Tisdale scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute, sending the Prairie boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Spanaway Lake and into the 3A state tournament.

Prairie will travel to face Kamiakin of Kennewick on Tuesday or Wednesday in the first round of state.

Tisdale’s penalty kick was set up by a handball call against Spanaway in front of the goal.

“It was a pretty obvious call,” Prairie coach Mike Mikelson said. “For once, luck went our way, and we converted.”

Mikelson said the Falcons stuck to their plan to defend and look for opportunities to score.

“The guys worked the plan to a tee,” Mikelson said. “Spanaway was a really good team, reminded us a lot of Camas.”

CJ Henry recorded four saves in goal and Hunter Anderson anchored the defense for the Falcons.

Olympia 2, Camas 1, PKs — Camas lost on penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie in the 4A bi-district playoffs. The Papermakers will host Sunnyside in the first round of the 4A state tournament on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Danny Wing scored Camas’ lone goal as both team scored goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation.

Olympia won the penalty kick shootout 4-3.
