The Clark College baseball season may have ended Monday, but the Penguins produced an exciting finale.

Reinaldo Gonzalez hit a two-run walk-off single to cap a three-run seventh inning and give the Penguins a 3-2 win over Lane in the second game of a NWAC South region doubleheader.

Clark had lost the first game to Lane 6-0.

The Penguins’ postseason fate was sealed while the second game was in progress. Mt. Hood defeated Clackamas 2-1 to clinch the last playoff spot from the South.

Gonzalez was 3 for 4 in the second game win for Clark, and leadoff hitter Bryce Roesch was 2 for 4, knocking in the first run of the seventh.

In the first game, Clark was held to four hits in the shutout loss. Roesch was 2 for 3 with a double.

Clark finished its season 20-19 overall, and fifth place at 10-14 in the South Region.
