Wind advisory issued for metro area

Gusts near Gorge may down tree limbs, disrupt power

A wind advisory is in effect for the metro area from noon today  until 7 p.m. Wednesday. As is often the case in the fall, the wind will be the most brisk in and near the Columbia River Gorge.

The National Weather Service in Portland predicts sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts from 35 mph to 50 mph. The worst of it will be tonight into Wednesday, according to the advisory. By Wednesday evening, our dry weather pattern of the last several days should give way to what is expected to be several days of rain.

Scattered power outages are possible, and the wind may cause some tree branches to fall and garbage cans and other light items to be blown around.
