Letter: Trump undermines security

As a veteran whose family members were in both world wars, I am sickened and upset that elected officials are supporting foreign governments over our own intelligence communities. It is a travesty to put party over country, and it is wrong and deleterious to our American values and security.

President Trump has reneged on his oath to protect and to defend our nation against foreign adversaries, namely Russia. His overt refusal to expose Putin’s interference in our election can obviate our freedom to choose in the next election. Pandering to such divisive Russian entreaties is tantamount to treason.

Where are the Republican voices of reason and consternation into these abhorrent notions? Trump is quick to tweet inane and often duplicitous rants that are undermining our national security. His minions are enabling the bigots, racists, fascists and white supremacists to lead us not to greatness but to degradation. We cannot be reticent in these matters lest our great nation devolve into a Third World mentality — “Believe me!”
