Police officers arrested a man Sunday afternoon after he accidentally fired a gun in his house, striking another, according to the Woodland Police Department.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Windflower Drive in Woodland around 3 p.m., after someone reported gunfire in the area. The officers learned a round struck the front of a house, going through an exterior wall and into a wall inside.

The two people inside the house at the time were unhurt, police said.

Officers found a neighbor who admitted to accidentally firing his gun inside his house. That gunshot struck the neighbor’s house, and he had been drinking, according to police.

The man, John Muthandi, 54, was arrested pending charges of two counts of reckless endangerment.
