Washougal — Clark County employees collected winter clothing items for their October Year of Giving campaign. Collected blankets, socks, hats, mittens, gloves and new or gently used coats will go to Refuel Washougal, a community coalition that provides meals and other items to local residents. The blankets will go to Washougal police officers, who carry them in their patrol cars to give to homeless people or school resource officers, or use at accident scenes and the Children’s Home Society. The county collected 65 coats, 45 blankets, 25 pairs of socks, 35 hats, 20 gloves and four bags of miscellaneous clothing.
