Woodland — Woodland Mayor Will Finn announced the city’s recipients for the 2017 Employee of the Year and Volunteer of the Year earlier this month. Janice Fisher, who works in the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, was named Employee of the Year after being hired in 2015 as a records clerk. She’s a part-time employee who recently filled in as the utility clerk and is splitting her time between records and community development. Darlene Johnson was named Volunteer of the Year Award for her work on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, where she wants to use lodging tax dollars to help fund community events, the visitor center and other tourist attractions, such as Lilac Gardens and the Woodland Historical Museum.
