SALMON CREEK — Construction will begin soon on a new Clark County Fire District 6 fire station, and the public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at 11 a.m. Aug. 30.

The ceremony will be at the site of the new Station 63, 1119 N.E. 136th St., in the Salmon Creek area.

The 17,000-square-foot building will house emergency operations as well as a training facility, a first for the fire district.

“This will enhance the skills of your current and future firefighters and prepare them to protect our community for years to come,” Fire District 6 said in a news release.

The new station will primarily serve the Salmon Creek, Mount Vista and Clark County Fairgrounds communities. The current station has the busiest response unit in the fire district.

Two fully equipped emergency response crews, a battalion chief and training staff will be housed there.

Fire officials estimate the new station will serve the area for at least 50 years.
