The popular annual event celebrating recovery from drug and alcohol addiction returns to the Interstate 5 Bridge on Monday morning. More than 3,000 people are expected to take part in Hands Across the Bridge, where people join hands across I-5. The event is 10 a.m. to noon on Labor Day.

On the Washington side, people will meet at Esther Short Park, 301 W. Eighth St. Call 360-903-4645 for more information. In Oregon, people will meet at The Red Lion at 909 N. Hayden Island Drive. Call 503-548-3644 for more information.

Following the event on the bridge, there will be a celebration in Esther Short Park called Oxfest. It’s sponsored by Oxford Houses of Oregon and Washington and recognizes September as National Recovery Month. Festivities include live bands, food vendors, games and raffles.
