1. Wine about it

Savor the end of summer by touring some of Clark County’s best wineries during the Labor Day Weekend Wine & Appetizer Tour, Sept. 1 to 3. Sample award-winning wine and taste a variety of small-plate culinary creations at nine participating locations. Some establishments will also offer live music and discounts on wine by the glass and by the bottle. Contact each winery for hours (roughly noon to 5 p.m. each day). The tour is free, but each winery will offer its own pricing on wine and food. Attendees who visit at least five wineries will be entered into a raffle for wine-themed prizes. For a list of participating wineries, visit www.swwawine.com

2. Chugga chugga choo choo

Get a train’s-eye view of scenic north Clark County during the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad’s Labor Day Weekend Train Rides, departing at noon and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 1 and 2 from Yacolt Station, 207 N. Railroad Ave., Yacolt. The diesel engine will pull several indoor-and-outdoor passenger cars to Moulton Falls and chug through a 330-foot solid rock tunnel before stopping at Moulton Station to visit Yacolt Falls. Arrive 30 minutes before departure to pick up your tickets and board the train. Tickets are $16 per person, $15 for seniors, $11 for children five to 12, and $9 for little ones 2 to 4. Babies up to age 2 are free. 360-686-3559, tickets.bycx.org or www.bycx.com

3. Loco for ‘Coco’

The summer is winding down, but evenings are still warm enough to enjoy outdoor movies, and Camas Movies in the Park fits the bill nicely. See a free showing of Pixar’s animated hit “Coco” (PG) starting at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 in Crown Park, at the intersection of Northeast 17th Avenue and Everett Street. Come at 7 p.m. for pre-movie kids’ activities. Bring a picnic dinner (no alcohol, please) and blankets, pillows, or low-backed chairs, but leave your pets at home. Separate sections for chairs and blankets will ensure that everyone has a clear view. Treats will be available for sale for those who like to much while they watch. www.cityofcamas.us/parkshome

4. Vroom for veterans

Rumble on over to the 40 et 8 Bingo Parlor, 7607 N.E. 26th Ave., Vancouver, for the Veteran’s Car and Motorcycle Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 3. This revved-up rally features lives music, an indoor beer garden, raffles, prizes, trophies, and goodie bags for the first 50 entrants. The cost to register is $15 per vehicle; proceeds benefit the 40 et 8 veterans’ aid and assistance programs. For more information, contact Earl Edwards at 360-513-8251, Bob Kadow at 360-606-5195, or Cliff Taylor at 360-901-8671. 40et8bingo.org

5. Get artsy in the Pearl

Portland’s tree-lined North Park Blocks — in the Pearl District, between Everett Street and Eighth Avenue — will be filled with first-rate artistic talent during Art in the Pearl Fine Art and Crafts Festival, happening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 1 and 2 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 3. Admission is free, but bring money because there will be an abundance of amazing art to buy, plus live music, art demos, hands-on activities for kids, and fresh food options from some of Portland’s best food trucks. It’s one of the top five art festivals in the country, and draws about 75,000 art lovers over three days. While you’re browsing, be sure to look for Vancouver artist Kim Murton. www.artinthepearl.com
