Non-league football: Hockinson 52, Toppenish 14

Sawyer Racanelli scored three touchdowns, one on a 78-yard punt return, as the defending 2A state champions opened the season with a non-league road victory.

The Hawks’ 15th consecutive victory was sealed in the first half. After Toppenish scored first, Hockinson scored the next five touchdowns and added a field goal for a 38-7 halftime lead.

Racanelli caught three passes for 99 yards and scored on pass plays of 56 and 38 yards from Levi Crum, who was 12 for 18 for 217 yards and had a rushing TD as well.

Juice Jones, who led the Hawks with 57 yards rushing, had the other first-half TD.

Liam Mallory threw two TD passes in the third quarter for the Hawks, one to Peyton Brammer and the other to Chase Roush.
