Mountain View students learn importance of democracy from League of Women Voters

Mountain View — Mountain View High School students from Jim Peterson’s and Bob Procive’s contemporary world issues classes participated in a Civics is Fundamental presentation by Katherine Murphy, vice president of the Clark County League of Women Voters. Students old enough registered to vote, as Murphy discussed the importance of civic engagement and participation in the electoral process. Other topics discussed included the history behind the Electoral College, the impact of voter participation, the Constitution and what the rights of citizenship entail in a democracy.
