CRU, a provider of data security and digital forensic services, announced Thursday it has acquired ioSafe Inc., a California company whose products protect the physical products from water, fire and other hazards.

“ioSafe has unique products and a strong team. By combining our strengths, CRU furthers its vision of providing organizations with cost-effective storage and continuity solutions to better protect their data,” CRU CEO Randal Barber said in a prepared statement.

Founded in 1986, CRU’s products are used to encrypt data for government agencies, computer manufacturers, companies in the defense industry and more. ioSafe, meanwhile, has built storage systems more akin to a black box for aircraft, CRU said in the announcement.

CRU is headquartered at 1000 S.E. Tech Center Drive, Suite 160.
