Bennington — Rick Muhr, a marathon coach, 32-time marathon runner and Olympic torch bearer, was in Vancouver recently to host a fun run and running clinic. He was in town to visit Nautilus, Inc., where he’s an endurance and running coach for the company. On June 9, he hosted a fun run with 5K, 8K and 10K course options for runners of all levels, and shared best practices for running. In his 22 years of coaching, he’s worked with more than 20,000 runners, and talked to attendees at the fun run on how to prepare for injury-free outdoor running over the summer, nutrition, post-workout recovery, proper shoe selection and improving running form and efficiency. On June 11, he visited Columbia Valley Elementary School to give his “Running is Fun & Healthy!” presentation to third-, fourth- and fifth-graders. He shared tips on the importance of hydration and good nutrition.
