Kaia Oliver struck out 13 batters as the Ridgefield softball team opened its season with a 3-1 win at Battle Ground on Friday.
Oliver, the returning 2A Greater St. Helens League MVP, allowed just four hits.
Kekai Schultz went 3 for 4, including an RBI double that broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning. She added a sacrifice fly in the seventh innings for her second RBI.

• David Klimtovich, Prairie boys soccer, scored the game-winning goal in the first half in a 1-0 win over Battle Ground.
• Nick Laurenza, Fort Vancouver baseball, went 3 for 3 with two runs in a 6-5 win over Seaside, Ore.
• Jeremy Martin and Brock Harrison, Ridgefield baseball, both went 3 for 3 with Martin adding a double and RBI, and Harrison a double, triple and RBI in the Spudders 10-4 win at La Center.
