Letter: Promises not being met

By Dean Osterman, Camas

Voters, remember the campaign pleas and proclamations of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, and Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, of “less taxes, government, and more freedom?” Mostly, these candidates have sought out issues that bring sensitivity to the table, yet they do nothing to really resolve the problems, just draw attention to themselves.

Lower taxes are not happening as promised. This voter is now significantly paying more taxes affecting income. The rich class who support these legislators are getting what they advocated to these legislators. We are seeing these representatives gaining more income and support from the National Rifle Association and other wealthy financial GOP supporters who are paying far less taxes and passing it on to the middle and lower classes.

It is time to stop Herrera Beutler and Pike from representing the minority and concentrate on legislators who strive to resolve problems with inflation, increased taxes, education practices, health concerns, and less governmental dictates upon the majority without representing Southwest Washington. Simply vote for true strategic planning representatives who focus upon resolutions in the November election, rather than Herrera Beutler and Pike seeking media attention while voting for what the 1 percent to 3 percent wealthy GOP favor.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
