Police arrested two men on suspicion of child rape after the two victims’ mothers contacted law enforcement.

Officers arrested Joe Nathan Flores Jr., 21, of Vancouver, on suspicion of third-degree child rape Sunday.

According to court records, a mother reported her 14-year-old daughter had run away. Later that evening, a friend of the girl told the mother that she made a post on Snapchat saying she was at a hotel with her boyfriend, Flores.

The mother called area hotels and found a Flores has rented a room at the Motel 6 on Chkalov Drive.

The mother contacted police, who went to the hotel to find Flores and the girl. According to court records, Flores admitted knowing the girl was underage, and that he had sexual contact multiple times with the girl previously.

The second man — Hunter Blaike Rodin, aka Hunter Blaide Rodin, 31 — appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Monday after he was brought from Airway Heights Correction Center in the Spokane area, where, according to court records, he was being held for a prior offense.

According to court records, the then-15-year-old victim’s mother learned last year the girl had been meeting up with Rodin for sex.

The girl told investigators she first came in contact with Rodin after receiving an unsolicited text message from him through the Kik messaging application. They continued communicating, eventually engaging in sexual contact over that summer.

Rodin had been in the Airway Heights jail for about a year, according to court records, but lived in Longview prior to his imprisonment.

Prosecutors filed charges of two counts of third-degree child rape in February, and Rodin made his first appearance in Clark County Superior Court Monday.

Flores’ next court date was set for Friday, and Rodin’s for May 24.
