The City Center Redevelopment Authority and Downtown Redevelopment Authority boards each have two vacancies and are seeking applicants.
The City Center Redevelopment Authority board is tasked with overseeing downtown redevelopment and ensuring consistency with the Vancouver City Center Vision. The board provides direction to the city council on public-private partnerships, public assistance for private development and business aspects of downtown Vancouver redevelopment projects. Applicants are not required to live in the city of Vancouver but should be civic or business leaders with a background relevant to the board’s directive.
The Downtown Redevelopment Authority board also advises the city council and serves as owner of the Vancouver Hilton Hotel and Convention Center building. The board is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s operations, finances and promotion. Applicants do not need to live in Vancouver.
Members of either board serve four-year terms. The Downtown Redevelopment Authority meets at 11:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month at City Hall. The City Center Redevelopment Authority meets at noon on the same day.
