Prep roundup: Columbia River tops Tumwater to reach to 2A soccer district final

Cash’s goal stands up as Chieftains will face Mark Morris

Julia Cash’s first-half goal on an assist from Shalece Easley helped the Columbia River girls soccer team beat Tumwater 1-0 in the semifinals of the 2A district tournament on Tuesday.

River will play Mark Morris for the district title Thursday at home.

Goalkeepers Liz Canton and Alex Schulz combined for seven saves.

RIDGEFIELD 5, WF WEST 2 — The Spudders stayed alive in the consolation bracket of the 2A district playoffs. Ridgefield will play at Hockinson in another loser-out game on Thursday.

SKYVIEW 3, TODD BEAMER 0 — Allie Thompson made 11 saves in goal in the Storm’s 4A bi-district shutout of the Titans.

Skyview Riley Bowen and Ellie Sjogren in addition to an own goal. The Storm led 2-0 at halftime.

Skyview faces Puyallup at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Puyallup’s Sparks Stadium in a winner-to-state match.

Mariah Jensen added two assists for the Storm.

STADIUM 3, MOUNTAIN VIEW 0 — The Thunder dropped into the loser-out bracket with a loss in Tacoma. Mountain View will face Peninsula on Thursday, needing two wins to reach state.

TENINO 8, LA CENTER 0 — The Wildcats’ season ends in a loser-out first-round district game to the Beavers.

Volleyball

4A BI-DISTRICT — Union swept Auburn 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 in the play-in match at Bellarmine Prep to move into the double-elimination portion of the tournament. The Titans will play Rogers of Puyallup at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kentlake High School.

Abby Watson had 11 assists and eight digs, and Lauren Gehrman added seven kills and four digs for the Titans.

3A TIEBREAKER SET — Prairie and Mountain View will face off at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Vancouver to determine the top two seeds to bi-districts Saturday.

Prairie sweeped Evergreen and Mountain View topped Kelso on Tuesday to finish the regular-season tied in the 3A GSHL.

1B DISTRICT 4 — Firm Foundation advanced to the semifinal round with a 3-0 home victory over Mary M. Knight. Scores were 25-13, 25-13, 25-14. The Eagles will play Three Rivers Christian at 5 p.m. Thursday at Tumwater High School for a spot to the 1B state tournament.
