PORTLAND — Portland-based Dark Horse Comics will publish Anthony Bourdain’s last graphic novel, a series of nine horror stories based on Japanese myths, next month.
“Hungry Ghosts” drops Oct. 2, Dark Horse said in a release. The compilation is another collaboration between the late travel show host and Joel Rose, the same duo behind the “Get Jiro” series, which follows a fictional Yakuza heir and sushi chef.
(For those wondering, Bourdain said the main character of that tale was not inspired by the 85-year-old Jiro Ono, star of the 2011 documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi.)
The graphic novel includes five recipes Bourdain created for the book, each of which is featured in one of the nine stories throughout. There’s also a glossary toward the end that explains the origins of the ghosts behind the stories.
