Letter: Trump follows Putin’s model

I was comparing Adolph Hitler and President Donald Trump. Sure, the Constitution has stood in Trump’s path toward dictatorship, but that’s how he’d love to rule. His governing models are Russia’s Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. I believe he’d like to see Russia take over the U.S. and install him as president, not over a democratic republic but over a Russian-controlled dictatorship.

Hitler knew the German people well, knew they would follow a strong leader, a vater for the vaterland. Trump knows the Americans. He knows there are Americans who would love to have someone do their thinking for them and wanting that badly enough to trade their freedom for it. Maybe such words describe all of the approximately 30 percent who would vote for him again in spite of the damage he’s done, in spite of his vulgarity, in spite of him insulting and possibly losing our allies across the Atlantic, in spite of him cozying up to Putin and his ilk.

There are over two years left of Trump’s administration. Congress has to get him out of there. An impeachment is necessary, but it’s not going to happen with a Republican majority in Congress. We must change the power in Washington, D.C., this November — before America becomes Amerika.
