BATTLE GROUND — Brothers Trent and Daniel Thompson combined for 306 yards rushing and each scored two touchdowns to lead Battle Ground to a 35-14 win over rival Prairie on Friday.

Seth Workman completed five of his six passes for 119 yards and one score at District Stadium.

Daniel Thompson rushed for 218 yards on 30 carries. His brother added 88 yards.

“It’s our rivalry game and for everyone in Battle Ground this is our biggest game of the year,” Trent Thompson said. “They had an 88 percent chance to win tonight. None of us cared about that, we just went out there and gave it our all.”

“I always try to keep my head high because there’s always a chance,” Daniel Thompson said.

Prairie forced a punt on the first drive of the game and scored two plays later. Battle Ground responded with 28 unanswered points.

“Everyone was so stoked but we all know we had to keep playing the game,” Daniel Thompson said.

The Tigers defense bent but never broke, as Prairie’s visits to the redzone were continuously pushed back via timely sacks or taken away altogether by an interception in the endzone. Battle Ground also forced and recovered a fumble along with stifling each of the Falcons’ three 4th down attempts.
