WSU Vancouver announces 4 award recipients

Washington State University Vancouver will present four awards at its spring commencement ceremony for advancing equity, research, student achievement and teaching.

The recipients are:

• Shameem Rakha, clinical assistant professor of education, will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Advancing Equity.

• Bala Krishnamoorthy, associate professor and program leader in mathematics and statistics, will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence.

• Loren Horowitz, who is graduating with his bachelor’s in computer science, will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Student Achievement.

• Hua Tan, assistant professor in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, will receive the Students’ Award for Teaching Excellence.

Commencement will be at 1 p.m. May 4 at the Sunlight Supply Amphitheater located at 17200 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield. The event is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required.
