Firefighters responded to a two-alarm outbuilding fire in West Minnehaha on Wednesday, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Vancouver Fire Department crews were dispatched at 10:45 a.m. to the 2900 block of Northeast Cherry Road for the report of a structure fire.

A second alarm was issued shortly thereafter.

The initial crew to arrive in the area said they could see smoke in the distance but were having issues accessing the property. Firefighters used a nearby residence to find their way and quickly found a  20- by 20-foot outbuilding engulfed in flames, according to the scanner.

The fire did not threaten nearby buildings, according to the scanner. Extra water resources were requested to the scene, but additional engines were apparently not needed.

Firefighters remained on scene for about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
