Boys basketball: R.A. Long 54, Hockinson 47

Cavin Holden scored 18 points as the Lumberjacks opened 2A Greater St. Helens League play with a road win.

Holden hit four 3-pointers and helped R.A. Long (4-3, 1-0) hold off the Hawks (2-4, 0-1).

Dakota Souders and Jeremiah Faulstick each scored 14 points for Hockinson, which trailed 32-23 at halftime. The Hawk tied the score late in the third quarter, but R.A. Long finished down the stretch.

“We came out with great energy in the third quarter,” said Hockinson coach Jon Warner. “But tip your cap to them. They finished strong on the road.”
